Exfoliates and cleanses, the natural way
Our skin, our body’s largest organ contains millions and trillions of skin cells. Imagine - a single inch of skin has as many as 19 million skin cells and 60,000 melanocyte cells that make melanin or skin pigment.
On an average, skin cells have a lifespan of two to four weeks, after which they die. Dead skin cells are replaced by new ones, and are pushed to the surface, where they are shed. As a result, at the top layer – the epidermis, we have an accumulation of approximately 30 layers of dead skin!
Without adequate epidermal exfoliation, followed by natural replacement of fresh, active cells, our skin health is compromised. What this means, is that along with poor skin health, the skin’s normal barrier function is compromised. This can be detrimental to overall health of the body.
It therefore becomes extremely important to follow an exfoliating routine that uses ingredients that are gentle on the skin and at the same time are of medical grade.
The need for regular exfoliation
Exfoliating is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of our skin using an exfoliator, because often, dead cells don’t shed completely. This can result in dry, itchy, flaky patches and clogged pores.
Exfoliation can leave your skin looking brighter, feeling softer and smoother. In the long-term, exfoliating can also increase collagen production, leading to glowing, vibrant skin. Collagen also promotes skin elasticity and minimizes fine lines on the skin.
